Mission Statement: To present quality artisan works, valued services and education in a manner that inspires long-lived relationships with community members, art patrons and local artists.
Winner Road Gallery opened it's frame shop doors in August, 2009 while the
main gallery was under renovation. In September, 2009, with the gallery furnished
and freshly painted, we joined with four other neighboring galleries to hold the initial 3rd Friday / Englewood District Art Walk. The following month's Art Walk was deemed our "Grand Opening" and the six House Artists proudly showed their works and new display space to our guests.
Artist / Framer Sherri Haupert and a business partner originally shared ownership of the Gallery; she has been the sole owner since March, 2010. Countless patrons have spoken about the quality of art and level of artistry they encounter during their visits to Winner Road Gallery - expressing that it far surpasses what they expected from the immediate Kansas City area. The phrase "Impressive Art. Passionate Artists." was created by Sherri to express her pride in the Gallery
and her choice of talented local artisans. Although she currently lives North
of the River, Sherri has plans to buy a home in Independence within two years
to become a more permanent member of the Englewood community.
The City of Independence has researched and prepared a Feasibility Study
on Englewood's capacity as an Arts District. There is such strong history here - surviving the Great Depression and World Wars, hosting a trolley station that provided transportation in Kansas City, and the local Cauger building was once
a workplace for Mr. Walt Disney himself! We've been approved by the City's Planning Commission, and on September 19th, 2011 (by unanimous vote), the
City Council has given us a "thumbs up" to be zoned an Arts District. We are supported by a multitude of departments within the City of Independence,
Missouri Tourism group, the Mid-American Regional Council (MARC), Englewood Business Association (EBA), Truman-Heartland Foundation, dozens of dedicated artists and gallery owners, and hundreds of art enthusiasts, collectors and community members. We continue to be in the media spotlight with articles
that highlight our changes, growth and future plans.
Sherri has personally welcomed six new businesses to Englewood in the past
two years; most recently a silkscreen print shop and soon-to-open retro coffee shop. In addition, the 3rd Friday Art Walk has grown from five galleries in 2009
to a dozen venues as of this year. A fun fact... Winner Road Gallery has not missed an Art Walk since they began, holding the event successfully through
all types of weather!
Please join us to make Winner Road Gallery a "destination" gallery, known for approachable, friendly artists and quality fine art creations. We appreciate your
interest in the Gallery, and the Artists within.
Sincerely,
Sherri A. Haupert
